As Esas Gayrimenkul, we aim to increase our use of renewable energy by expanding our solar power plant (SPP) investments by 2025, and to broaden the scope of our electronic waste collection processes through continuous improvement and expansion strategies. In the coming period, we plan to: expand our renewable energy investments by developing new SPP projects on land; expand electronic waste collection areas in the shopping malls we invest in and manage; increase awareness and education campaigns for shopping mall visitors; improve process transparency by digitizing recycling processes and integrating these processes with green energy usage models; and expand our sphere of influence by involving more stakeholders in these processes. In this context, we are realizing our vision of transforming our shopping malls from mere commercial centers into hubs of environmental and social transformation. We have begun our energy management efforts with comprehensive energy audits conducted with Siemens in all our shopping malls. With the Energy Performance Contracts (EPC) model that we plan to implement at the end of this process, we aim to cover the costs of energy efficiency investments with the savings we achieve.
We are pursuing a two-stage strategy towards our net-zero emissions target for the shopping malls in our Asset Management portfolio. In the first stage, we aim to eliminate emissions from activities directly under our control – primarily electricity consumption – by 2030. To achieve this, we are implementing consumption reduction, renewable energy investments, and carbon offsetting solutions. In the second stage, we are conducting studies covering emissions from the energy consumption of our indirect stakeholders, such as our tenants and visitors, by 2050; we are also including our solution partners in this process and continuing our measurement, training, and awareness activities. Thanks to this holistic approach, we continue to lead the sustainable transformation while reducing our environmental impact.
